Knctr: use it or remove it?
Knctr is freeware developed by Itibiti Ventures Inc. that many computer users simply call Knctr virus. However, we can assure that it’s not an actual virus. It’s a legitimate program, but it spreads online using a shady technique called ‘bundling.’ It means users do not realise when and how this app appeared on their computers. All they notice are strange ads and unwanted redirects. However, developers describe this application as a useful tool that allows making free online calls, watch videos and connect to popular social media outlets. But there’s nothing saint and helpful about this program, and you should not download it from the official website. It disturbs browsing activity by delivering questionable ads and initiating suspicious redirects; besides, it collects personal information about users. Indeed, it puts both, computer and its owner, at risk. If this suspicious application appeared on you PC, you should remove Knctr immediately.
There are many different ads and adware programs that deliver them; however, they are often labelled under the different names. So, users can recognise them quite easily. These advertisements usually have such names as ‘ads by Knctr,’ ‘brought to you by Knctr’ and similar. These labels are the first sign that you have to stay away from the ads. Sometimes advertisements might offer fantastic deals that might seem too good to be true. Indeed, most of the time they are dishonest and corrupted. They might lead you to a fraudulent website and try to swindle money from you. However, it’s not the only threat. Some of these pop-ups or discount coupons might be malware-laden ads. In this case, your computer might be infected with the hazardous virus after one click. Furthermore, it’s important to mention another annoying, disturbing and potentially dangerous problem – Knctr redirect issue. This computer infection is capable of initiating redirects to various Internet websites. You can unexpectedly end up on the promotional Internet site, gaming or gambling sites, or even pornographic website. As well as ads, some of these sites might be infected. Indeed, there’s no need to hesitate, if the virus appears on your computer’s screen. Remove Knctr and get back to the regular and safe browsing.
How did this program end up on my PC?
This bogus program is usually added in the bundle with regular software. Therefore, if you have recently installed PDF creator, video streaming or another free program, Knctr virus entered computer’s system as well. Potentially unwanted programs cannot get inside the system without permission, so computer users are the ones who let them in. It happens when users use ‘Basic’ or ‘Quick’ installation mode because this option does not allow seeing a full list of optional downloads. This setup allows installing them by default. To avoid this unwanted activity, you have to choose ‘Advanced’ or ‘Basic’ installation. This method shows all bundled programs and lets you decline their installation.
