All my documents have been infected by Zepto, from what I have read so far, it seems that there is no sure way to get rid of it, am I right? If so, which is next step? I throw away the computer? I would greatly appreciate your recommendations and the course of action I should follow.
Thank you very much,
Federico
Thank you for your question. There are some good and bad news related to the virus. The good news is, the virus can be eliminated from the infected system, so you will not have to throw your computer away. The bad news is, after Zepto removal the files it has encrypted remain locked and at the moment of writing, there is no decryption tool that would help recover the encrypted data. Though you may try running software like PhotoRec, R-Studio or Kaspersky virus-fighting utilities in order to recover at least some of your files. But before you do, make sure you remove Zepto infection from your computer first. You can do that using RestoroIntego antivirus utility. If this method does not work, and your virus-fighting software experiences errors while scanning, try disconnecting your computer from the network and following the instructions provided at the end of this article: Uninstall Zepto virus. After you complete these steps, try scanning your computer again. By this time, the virus should already be decontaminated and can be easily removed from the computer.
Good luck
